(webstagram) getting the opportunity to perform repertoire for a second, third, or beyond time serves as my mental diary. when I relive the past times I’ve performed the same piece, I remember who my section was, and where we were, and who our conductor was.
but I also think about how much of a different player I was, and what a different person I was back then. I hope that I am more kind and compassionate, more open and empathetic, more aware and sensitive, and a generally better person overall. I am fortunate that my job conjures so many layers of personal, comprehensive memories.
(webstagram) I have the best seat in the best orchestra! I can’t believe how fortunate I am to be able to sit between the most generous and kind colleagues under one of the great conductors and interpreters of our generation. our rehearsals are mostly in French, and funnily enough, numbers in French are still the most difficult for to me to translate.
